| | I guess I should be posting about some Chinese New Year thing just like approximately 24123414535 other people on the face of the earth right now. But well, apart from the food and the talking and the bonding sessions with the toilet seat I don't think there's much to talk about. But there was of course this very interesting thing that happened just yesterday as I was visiting my late grandma's grave. We were just minding our own business, clearing off the dried leaves off the grave when this sweeper guy came along. He had a little chat with my dad for a while as he cleared the leaves away. But what caught my attention was that he made this one statement. "Coz I don't want to be doing my job simply for the sake of getting it done - I don't give crap" Now that's one eye-opener. This guy is a sweeper - yes, the guy who walks around sweeping leaves and such with his old broom made of lidi. And this guy works in a graveyard, for goodness' sake. What he has is every reason in the world to give a crappy job and no one will have anything to say about it. But if he can understand what it means to give his best; to be excellent at what he does, what more us? 'Cause excellence is the language of love. |
